14/09/24 – Ambleside 1-4 Carlisle 2
Today, we started the 24/25 season with a game against Carlisle 2s. It was great to see 14 players turn out, and we started excited for the season.
There was some lovely play in the first half from everyone on the pitch, but the nerves got the better of us, and we were down 3-0 by half time.
Going back into the second half, we found our feet and settled into the game. There was some lovely movement at the back, and the defence kept their cool when Carlisle broke through. As we became more confident, we broke through the Carlisle defence, and both Janette and Annabel had a shot on goal, but unfortunately, they didn’t go into the back of the net
With our confidence improving, Sarah got onto the end of a ball passed up the pitch and beat the goalkeeper to gain us a goal. The game finished 4-1, and although it is not the result we wanted, there was some great hockey being played and some real positives going forward.

21/09/24- Ambleside 3-0 Carlisle 3
Today, we played Carlisle 3!
As the game started, we looked confident, and we made some great runs forward. Some fantastic runs in the midfield kept us looking positive going forward and helped up when attacking upfront.
As we settled into the game, we became more confident, and Maddie made a great run to get the ball into the back of the net, making it 1-0.
There were some great runs from Lily and Sarah up the wings to keep us pushing forward and made some great shots on goal. As we continued, Maddie was able to get onto the end of another great ball and found the goal again, finishing the half 2-0 up.
Carlisle kept fighting and kept pushing into our defensive half, but with some great defending, we were able to keep them out, finishing the game 3-0 and keeping a clean sheet!
Well done to everyone today. A great result for the second game of the season!
